Zbigniew Lengren (Russia - Warsaw) spent his childhood and youth in Torun. In 1945 he took up art studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, from which he graduated in 1951. He debuted as a caricaturist in 1944 in the magazine "Stańczyk". Since 1946 he cooperated with the weekly magazines "Szpilki" and "Przekrój", for which he created the character of Professor Filutek and his dog Filus. He also drew for the weekly magazine "World" (1954-1968), moreover, he was the illustrator of many books, author of posters, stage designer. He wrote satirical pieces, was an announcer, actor and director in theaters and cabarets. From 1965 he worked in the Entertainment Department of Polish Television. Since 1945, he participated in group exhibitions, including the Third National Exhibition of Fine Arts, Warsaw 1953, exhibitions of the series "Polish Plastic Work in the 15th Anniversary of the Polish People's Republic": Satire Exhibition, Exhibition of Books and Illustrations, Exhibition of Advertising Graphics - all in Zachęta Gallery, Warsaw 1961-1962. He had many solo exhibitions at home and abroad. At the request of children, he was awarded the Order of the Smile. In 1988 he was also awarded the Golden Pin with Laurel. In 2005, a sculpture commemorating his association with the city was unveiled in Torun, as well as a statue of his dog Filus.
