Zofia Stryjeńska is one of the most popular artists of the interwar period and a leading representative of Art Deco in Polish art.
The portfolio, published in an edition of 400 pieces numbered and signed by the publisher, contains 40 prints (lithographs and compositions made in the stencil technique, painted in gouache and watercolor) with depictions of Polish folk costumes from the Second Polish Republic.
The pochoir technique was popular among Art Deco artists and involves printing outlines and hand-painting with gouache and watercolor through a stencil. This makes it possible to obtain a series of almost identical prints. Stryjeńska's compositions are very striking, full of dynamism and extremely colorful.
