Jakub Tatarkiewicz (1798 - 1854) Polish sculptor, representative of classicism. He began his education in Piarist schools. He revealed early talent in drawing and music. From 1817 to 1822 he studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Warsaw University. During his studies, he received a scholarship and medals twice for participating in exhibitions in Warsaw. He was a pupil of Paweł Maliński and Karol Brodowski. In 1823-1828 he studied in Rome with Bertel Thorvaldsen. He is the author of, among others, the monuments to Franciszek Karpinski and Jan Kochanowski located in the garden in Wilanow.
