Artur Szołdra creates sculptures and reliefs in wood, bronze or stone, often combining materials. He creates intimate and large-format works, mainly full-scale, monumental sculptures and deep reliefs. He has been perfecting his craft and artistry for more than 15 years. He developed his skills in the sculpture studio of regional artist Zbigniew Hławiczka. He is also involved in applied sculpture. His sculptural art has been presented at individual and collective exhibitions. He has won the recognition of collectors, and his works are in many collections, including the Museum of Magical Realism in Wisla and the open space of this city.
The artist's trademark are sculptures with fantasy themes. A frequent theme in Szołdra's work is the keyhole or the key itself. The created figures, as it were, become guardians or connectors between the real world of the viewer and the imaginative land of fantasy. It remains up to the viewer to decide whether to look through the keyhole or reach for the key and open the door.
Usually the sculpture itself can be created in as little as a month, but that is the physical part of making it. Sometimes it is preceded by long moments of immersion in thought, creating the most appropriate concept. I can sculpt a face in fifteen minutes, but it takes much longer to realize what expression it should have.
