Jan Musiałowski (b. 1992, Warsaw, Poland) Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Faculty of Graphic Arts, in 2017. He realizes sculptural, graphic and multimedia projects. He uses both traditional materials such as white marble and wood, but also makes sculptures from steel in a self-developed technique.

The artist is one of the most interesting sculptors of the young generation in Poland. The common feature of his projects is a constant dialogue with the material, which, in the course of working with the given matter, results in an extremely natural form, almost bearing no signs of the work of the human hand. The organic shapes present in Musialowski's works illustrate his attachment to nature and its immanent features. The contours in his sculptures give the impression of forms already present and well rooted in our haptic imagination and subconsciousness. The work on display, Surrounded by Touch, from the series The Shape of Tenderness, is a gentle, abstract form in which any viewer can find their own association. The artist, who lives near a forest in a suburban village, often looks at young animals whose just-forming bodies provide inspiration for sculptural forms. The smooth elaboration of the noble Italian marble gives a sense of harmony and tranquility, and the upper part of the sculpture - seemingly a neck ending in a small head - causes the viewer to smile involuntarily.

In my work, I fully devote myself to the study of the materials from which I create works. I try to find a common language with the matter, through which I discover the stimuli hidden in it. My actions are strongly influenced by relationships with nature and those between people, and it is to them that I dedicate my works. What is important to me in the creative process is how the work will affect the world around it in a social and environmental context. Jan Musiałowski
