BIO:
Born in 1939. Sculptor, university lecturer. Graduated with honors in 1966 in the atelier of Wanda Ślędzińska at the Department of Sculpture of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. From 1968 he worked as a didactician at his alma mater. From 1978 to 2002, with statutory breaks, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, and from 2002 to 2004 he was appointed Vice-Rector for Student Affairs. In 1995, he was awarded the title of full professor. He was a member of the 6th term of the Program Council of the Center for Polish Sculpture in Orońsko. He currently serves as chairman of the Senior Convention of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. Repeated participant in sculpture symposia in France and Italy. Jozef Sekowski's works are in numerous public collections, including those in Lodz, Wroclaw, Orońsko, Krakow, Darmstadt, Aubenas, Ronneby, as well as in private collections in Europe and the United States. The artist has received numerous awards from the Minister of Culture and Art. He is the author of, among others, the monument to Gratitude in Sanok, Stanislaw Wyspianski in Biecz, and Patients Murdered at the Babinski Hospital in Cracow.
