banana bark / plexiglas, metal, 43.00 x 36.00 x 20.00 cm
Born in 1966, the artist is best known for her textile transparent paintings, as well as her delicate embossed sculptures and masks made of natural bark and fabrics. She is a graduate of the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. From the beginning, she sought to create a new technique that would revolutionize the way we perceive works of art. She uses layers of delicate fabrics enclosed between two sheets of glass. She creates unpainted, transparent, but colorful and full of good energy works. The transparency of the paintings allows her to change their exposure and place the work in free space. The spatial installations are about human figures, often the artist herself and her loved ones. The individual sculptures are stamped on life-size casts, using natural materials such as banana bark and natural textiles such as silk or organza. It draws the viewer's attention to the fact that we all come from nature, we are an integral part of it. In addition, the natural weaves of the prepared bark are a symbol of the interpenetrating structure of man. The presentation of the artist's work was held at the Foundry Gallery in Washington, D.C. in 2018, where she received a great review in the Washington Post, and was selected as Washington City's Artist of the Month. She currently lives and works in Otwock.
