Robert Jahoda - born. June 1, 1862 in Bochnia - died February 28, 1947 in Krakow - Master bookbinder, author of many impressive artistic bindings, diplomas, founder of one of the best bookbinding plants in the Second Polish Republic. He was also involved in the conservation of old prints, archival materials, including Jan Długosz's Annales seu Cronicae Regni Poloniae. He learned the profession in Krakow, Vienna and Lviv. In 1887 he passed the journeyman's exam and established his first atelier at 37 Market Square. In 1912 he bought a tenement house at 4 Gołębia Street where he moved his workshop. He participated in more than twenty international exhibitions in Berlin, Leipzig, Lviv, Paris, Poznan or Vienna. Winner of many honors and awards, in 1914 he was awarded at the All-World Exhibition of Book Art in Leipzig, in 1925 he won a gold medal at the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris, in 1929 he also won a gold medal at the General National Exhibition in Poznan. In 1937, an exhibition of Jahoda's works prepared for the 50th anniversary of his establishment was held in Cracow.
Condition: binding slightly soiled, pre-title pages with minor stains - overall condition very good.
