The artist uses luscious color, creating a fever of colors. Their richness and variety, pulsing builds both the narrative of the work and its formal space. The painting gestures are carried out extensively, and the texture of the paints is fleshy and palpable. Through the applied technique of painterly imagery, L.Soja's canvases are baroquely saturated with form and color, reaching out to the viewer, whether it is representational or abstract imagery. Noteworthy is the fact that despite the narrative formula of this painting, it is very well composed and formally interesting. It can be said that Liliana Soja's paintings are brimming with color. Although the artist has been present in the country for many years after an emigration episode in Paris, she is now making herself known to a wider audience.
Liliana Soja (1954) Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 1975-80 in the studios of Prof. Jacek Sempoliński, Rajmund Ziemski, Zbigniew Gostomski. She received her diploma with rector's honors in 1980. Previously, she graduated from the High School of Fine Arts in the Royal Lazienki Park in Warsaw. Winner of the Prize of the Mayor of the City of Warsaw and a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture. From 1983 to 1997 she lived and worked in Paris. After her definitive return to Poland, since 2000 she has been independently active as a painter and computer art graphic designer within her own Direct Design Studio. She deals with painting close to lyrical abstraction with elements of action painting, with a bold presence of color. The most important thing for her in art is to invite the viewer to discover together new abstract, fascinating worlds from the spiritual realm. She participates in plein-air paintings, exhibitions and art-related projects. One of the last solo exhibitions of the artist's paintings entitled: THIS IMAGE took place at the Old Prochownia Gallery in Warsaw in 2014. For years she has been exhibiting her paintings at the DAB Gallery of ZPAP with the PositiveArt group. The works are in private collections mainly in France, Switzerland, USA and Poland.
