Biography
Painter, art professor affiliated with the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw, where he runs a painting studio and directs doctoral studies. Scholarship holder of the Ministry of Culture, the Government of Bavaria and NGOs. Winner of the Best Diplomas of the Academy of Fine Arts, the Bielska Jesień Painting Festival, the Szczecin Painting Festival and other competitions. His interests include vanitas iconography, aesthetics of detail, destruct and non finito. Using unconventional painting procedures, he combines figurative and abstract elements. Exploring the spatial potential of visual means, he addresses issues of objectivity of judgment and the relationship of sensory experience to mental constructs, religion and scientific knowledge. He has completed artist residencies at Europaische Kunstlerhaus SCHAFHOF (Munich), University of Tennessee (Knoxville, USA), CROUS de Paris (Paris) and Verein Dusseldorf-Palermo e.V (Palermo). He is the author of solo exhibitions dealing with corporeality and mortality (Late Symptoms of Death, Psychopomp, In the Depths of the Image), the natural environment and the "extrasensory" world (Heliotropie, Sopra Minerva, Science / Fiction, Aurora, La force des plantes, Mimicry), witchcraft trials (Inertia, Incantations) and historical contexts of modernism (Detail/Spaces, Migrations). He has completed several retrospective projects (Shadow, Multiverse) and participated in several hundred group shows (Exploring Botany, Magic of the Square, Survival Art Review, 21st Century Polish Painting).
He has presented his works in Poland (e.g. National Museum in Gdansk, State Art Gallery in Sopot, National Museum and Contemporary Museum of Wroclaw, Manggha Art Center in Krakow, Zachęta National Gallery in Warsaw) and abroad (e.g. Musee des Arts et Metiers in Paris, Museo regionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Palermo, Kunsthalle Darmstadt, Muzeul da Arte Cluj-Napoca).
He is a member of the Wrocław Academy of Young Scientists and Artists, the Art Council of the Lower Silesian Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts and the editorial committee of the Silesian Art Yearbooks. He is a frequent curator and publishes texts on art (e.g. QUART, Biweekly, Art Discourses, Studia Philosophica Wratislaviensia). Several catalogs of group exhibitions have been published under his editorship.
Works in private collections as well as those of PKO BP Bank, the National Museum in Gdansk, the National Museum in Wroclaw, the City Museum of Wroclaw, the Kunshistorisches Museum zu Goerlitz, the Museum of Contemporary Wroclaw, the Luciano Benetton Collection and the Museo regionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Palermo.
