Artwork information: Maria Michałowska (1925-2018), Painting for Stażewski, acrylic on canvas, 80x80 cm, 1989, back: signature on stretcher frame right top, left top author's sticker with description of work. Painting painted as a tribute to the doyen of Polish geometric abstraction Henryk Stażewski (1894-1988) on the first anniversary of the artist's death. The form refers to the aesthetics of the works of H.Stażewski, at the same time firmly rooted in the artist's series of works entitled In the Space of the Square, created in 1980-90. The work of painting has a conceptual dimension, in this case in the form of a reference to the classical form of the square and the color range of shades of blue color, taking into account the brightness and saturation of the hue. Information about the painting in the monograph Maria Michalowska, E.Kosciellak, 2014, p.61.
