Painter, draughtsman, art critic, also a philosopher by education (Ph.D. at the Jagiellonian University); son of Waclaw; studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow (with W. Taranczewski); lecturer at the Cracow University of Technology (1982-99; professor since 1997), the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow (since 1998) and the Pontifical Academy of Theology there (since 2000), as well as the Ignatianum Academy in Cracow; works in the spirit of various stylistic conventions: Post-Impressionism, Fauvism, Dadaism, Polish Colorism; paints mainly landscapes (Podkrakowski Landscape, 1957; Landscape from Witowice, 1997; Orchard, 1999; Orka, 2005; Ruins of the Abbey, 2005), as well as figural compositions (Spady, 2001; Death of a Little Painter, 2003) and still lifes (Still Life, 1957; Still Life with Fruits, 1964); he realized polychromes in churches (e.g., at Jelonki in Warsaw.e.g. at Jelonki in Warsaw, 1970; with J. Nowosielski); he is the author of the book On the Plane of the Image (1992).
