provenance: private collection, London Born 1898 in Warsaw, died 1962 there. Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under the direction of J. Pankiewicz. Together with his master and the group forming the Paris Committee, he went to Paris in 1924, returned to Poland in 1933. During the war he made his way to Sweden, and from there in 1943 to England. you also had his first solo exhibition in 1946 at London's Redfern Gallery. During his stay in Britain - until 1958 - he was active in teaching and art. After returning to Poland, he was given a professorship at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Gdansk and Poznan. He mainly practiced painting, gradually moved from representational painting to abstraction, preserving the essence of Polish colorism. The artist's post-war work is considered one of the most outstanding in the Polish artistic output.
