Between 1946 and 1951 he studied painting at the Warsaw Academy under J. Cybis. In 1951 he began teaching at his alma mater, twice serving as dean of the Faculty of Painting. He is the recipient of prestigious awards, including the Jan Cybis Prize (1973) and a Ford Foundation scholarship (1962). From his early years, in addition to painting, the artist also practiced printmaking, especially woodcuts. Initially he depicted figurative scenes, to gradually turn to abstract shots and fascination with color, with time gaining intensity on his canvases. The artist's interests have also included textiles and ceramics for years. Dominik's work is inspired by the natural world, which in it takes the form of colorful spots, abstract signs. The artist's works can be found in many museums and private collections both at home and abroad, including national museums in Krakow, Poznan, Warsaw and Wroclaw, Museum of Modern Art in New York, Museo de Bellas Artes in Caracas, Museum Albertina in Vienna, Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
