Painter, student of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow (1896-1901) in the studios of Cynk, Malczewski, Wyczółkowski and Stanislawski and the Scuola Libera in Florence (1901). Most often he painted atmospheric-symbolic landscapes, these were usually small-scale views of the Cracow area. He designed stained glass windows and kilims. He was also involved in mural painting for churches - among his numerous realizations, the earliest ones are worth mentioning: the chapel of St. Sophia in Wawel Cathedral, together with Tetmajer, 1903; in Jutrusina, a polychrome modeled on San Vitale in Ravenna, 1906-10. He practiced woodcut and lithography, less frequently etching and drypoint. A noted poster artist and designer. As a caricaturist and satirist, he published in Chochole, Liberum Veto, Hrabi Wojtek and Szczutek, and his portraits of actors were part of the Melpomene Teki. He belonged to the circle of Young Poland artists centered around S. Przybyszewski and Life, which he took over artistic direction from Wyspianski in 1899. He was portrayed by Weiss in his painting Totenmesse (1898, MNK). He served in the Legions, where he made technical drawings of equipment and auxiliary charts, and from 1915 organized and ran, first in Vienna and then in Cracow, the military Central Publishing Office, where, as art director, he monopolized ornamentation. Master of vignettes. ProjWhile in captivity in Vítkovice in 1918, he designed a commemorative badge. After the war, he organized work workshops for invalids at the Ministry of Military Affairs (printing, leather goods and toy factory) and continued his teaching activities. Co-founder and member of, among others, the Polish Applied Art Society (since 1901), TAP Sztuka (since 1902), the Common Union of Polish Artists (since 1912), sat on the honorary committee of the Legions exhibition (1916), member of the Krąg group (since 1948). Participated in numerous group exhibitions.
