Description of work:
Bronislawa Rychter-Janowska was not only a painter of noble manors, but also of landscapes, often enriched with staffage. Small formats of works are characteristic of her work.
The small composition on offer surprises with its complexity. The painting shows a woman on a walk through a garden full of shrubs and flowers. The figure is dressed in black, her head is covered with a white hat. In the background, the artist has placed a wall and a gate separating the foreground from the green grove. The work is filled with light, which brings to mind a sunny summer day. Due to its small size, the composition is devoid of details, which contributes to its uncrowded painterly quality.
The painting has high decorative qualities and is an interesting example of genre themes in Bronislawa Rychter-Janowska's painting.
