Artwork description:
Feliks Michał Wygrzywalski's paintings are most often associated with oriental themes, which indeed dominated his work. The artist liked to depict scenes from the life and culture of the Arabs.
The offered painting depicts a genre scene set in Middle Eastern realities. Noteworthy are the bleached colors and strong chiaroscuro, which aptly reflect the harsh, hot desert climate. In the foreground, the painter has depicted two men with concentrated faces immersed in prayer in a half pose, while in the background there is a silhouette of a third Arab kneeling on a carpet laid on the sand.
The painting was executed with great attention to detail, which is noticeable especially in the foreground figures, whose refined faces with carefully drawn wrinkles and beards are close to the current of naturalism.
