Max Haenger (Hänger) senior (Munich 1874 - Fürstenfeldbruck 1941) - German painter trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, where he studied, among other things, in the studio of decorative painting. He was primarily an animalist, with his "specialty" being birds - chickens and fowl and, for example, pheasants, black grouse, partridges, peacocks - depicted against a serene landscape. His paintings - mostly small formats - were very popular and popular. He was the father of a painter of the same name - also an animalist - referred to as Max Hänger II or Max Hänger junior (1898-1961).
