Teodor Ziomek (Skierniewice 1874 - Warsaw 1937) was a well-known and highly regarded landscape painter, a pupil of Wojciech Gerson and Adam Badowski at the Warsaw Drawing School and of Leon Wyczółkowski and Jan Stanisławski at the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied from 1897 to 1901. Already his student works were awarded medals several times. After his studies, in 1905 he settled permanently in Warsaw, from where he traveled around the country and abroad - to Crimea, Italy, Germany, Austria. Starting in 1897, he exhibited a lot, often winning prestigious awards and prizes (including in 1899, 1905, 1911, 1928, 1929). He was a member of several prominent art associations, including the Association of Polish Artists "Art" and also the Warsaw Association of Artists "Odłam" (1908-19). In addition, he collaborated with the editors of the literary and art monthly "Sphinx," published in Warsaw in 1908-17.
Ziomek was primarily a painter of the Polish landscape, creating atmospheric landscapes of Mazowsze or Vilnius. He was also an accomplished marine painter, the author of views from the shores of the Baltic or the Black Sea. The artist's paintings can be found in many private collections and in Polish museum collections, including the National Museum in Warsaw, the National Museum in Cracow and the Maritime Museum in Gdansk.
