Antoni Uniechowski (1903-1976) is one of the most prominent Polish and Warsaw illustrators. His work included theatrical and film scenography, posters but above all book illustration. He illustrated, among others, Voltaire's "Powiastki filozoficzne" (Philosophical Poems), Krasicki's "Monachomachia", Sienkiewicz's "Potop" and Prus' "Emancypantki". He was the recipient of the Prize of the Land of Cracow, 1948, and the Prime Minister's Award for works for children and young people, 1960. In 1973, he received the Second Degree Award of the Minister of Culture and Art for lifetime achievement in book illustration.
