Painter, graphic artist. He was educated at the Warsaw Drawing School of W. Gerson. At the turn of 1899-1900, he continued his studies under J. Malczewski at the School of Fine Arts in Krakow. In 1900-1903 he studied with O. Seitz in Munich and then in Paris. He was a member of the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts and before 1939 its vice-president. He painted mainly portraits, which brought him great popularity. He also created nudes, landscapes and genre scenes, using both oil and watercolor techniques. He practiced printmaking - especially lithography and etching.
