In 1877-1885 he studied at the School of Fine Arts in Cracow under Władysław Łuszczkiewicz, Feliks Szynalewski and Jan Matejko. He took complementary studies in Munich under Alexander Wagner and Otto Seitz (1890-1893). After his studies, he settled permanently in his native Cracow.
