Biography
Studied from 1883 to 1890 at the School of Fine Arts in Cracow, including under Jan Matejko, and in 1891-93 in Munich, at the private school of Anton Ažbe. While still a student, he made his debut at the Society of Friends of Fine Arts in Krakow, exhibiting under the name 'Jordan'. After graduation, he lived in Lviv. He taught at the Industrial School and collaborated on the decoration of the halls of the Lviv theater. During World War I, he fought in the Legions. After World War II, he settled in Zakopane. He painted mainly battle paintings from the Napoleonic era and the November Uprising, genre scenes with horse motifs, less frequently portraits and landscapes. He participated in painting popular panoramas - Raclawicka, with Jan Styka and Wojciech Kossak, Golgotha, Panorama of Transylvania, Martyrdom of Christians with Styka and Battle of the Pyramids with Kossak. Together with Tadeusz Popiel, he painted the dioramas Branki Tatar and the Battle of Grunwald.
