Pach Adam (8 XII 1907 Kasina Wielka, Limanowa district - 5 VII 1980 Zakopane, buried in the old cemetery). Prominent Podh. folk writer, one of the best Podh. storytellers, social and cultural activist. (among others in the Association of Podhale), amateur sculptor (carved in wood), carpenter by profession (1923-29), then a nurse and sanitary inspector in the Zakopane health service (1929-72). His mother Zofia was a highlander, daughter of " Sabała's brother Jędrzej Krzeptowski; P.'s father was Wojciech Pach, a native of the Bochnia area, organist, successively in Zakopane 1895-1906, Kasina Wielka 1907, Zakopane 1908 and Nowy Bystr 1909-16. Adam P. thus grew up in Podhale, and settled permanently in Zakopane in 1916. In 1938 he married the daughter of " Jan Obrochta, and granddaughter of " Bartek Obrochta.

From 1924 he wrote dialect storytelling and poems, publishing them since 1945 in magazines and anthologies, such as Gawędy Skalnego Podhala Włodzimierz Wnuk's Gawędy Skalne Podhala (1960 and subsequent editions), Wieś tworząca (II, 1966 and subsequent editions), Anthology of Contemporary Folk Poetry (1967) and others. His storytelling makes up the majority of the booklet Bajdy przy watrze (Wa. 1957, co-authored with Wojciech Jarzębowski).P.'s writing is diverse (including articles on social-cultural issues); he wrote in the Podh. dialect and literary language. His Zgrzebne paździerze (Lu. 1976, poems and storytelling), Drzewiej pod Giewontem (Wa. 1977, stories), W cornej izbie, wieczornica góralska (Kr. 1977, P.'s poetry and prose with notes by Jan Pasierb Orland), W siąpawicach dziejowych (Wa. 1983, partially fictionalized stories against the background of the history of Podhale from the earliest times to the present).In his work, the subject of the Tatra Mountains occupies an important position, both in poems (e.g. Death of Bartuś Obrochty, Five Polish Ponds, Wiater holny, Orla Pyrć ) and in storytelling and tales, including Sabała , Strzelba , Wantule , Hawiarze , Na wysokiej perci . He is also the author of highland shows, performed by folk. bands of Podh: Na skalnej ziemi , Bartusiowa śmierć and others. He wrote the libretto to the unfinished opera Wiatr halny by Jan Maklakiewicz.P. was widely known as a public performer since 1928 as a storyteller, reciter, actor of highland shows and manager of Podh. artistic groups; he performed at home and abroad. In 1973 he became a member hon. Union of Podhale.
