Jan WODYÑSKI

A student of Wojciech Weiss and Felicjan Kowarski at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow and Warsaw, he was one of the outstanding representatives of Polish Colorism. From 1931 he belonged to the Rhythm group; from 1933 to the Pryzmat group. By then he had already exhibited a lot, including two solo exhibitions at the Warsaw IPS. In 1939 he was on scholarship in France. After the war he was a professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Torun, from 1947 to 1953 he was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sopot, and from 1963 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He presented his paintings - landscapes, still lifes, portraits, figural compositions - at many national and international exhibitions. In addition to easel painting, he was involved in polychromy, designed mosaics and sgraffito.
