Tadeusz Jan Cieślewski - father (1870 - 1956).
Known mainly for his urban landscapes of Warsaw. He painted mostly in watercolor, sometimes also in pastels and oil paints.
He studied at the Drawing School in Warsaw under the direction of Wojciech Gerson. In 1895-1896 he studied in Paris at the Académie Vitti and with Edmond-François Aman-Jean and Raphaël Collin. In 1900 he traveled to Italy and studied at the Academy of Rome. In 1904 he co-founded the Arts and Crafts association.
Since 1906 he was a member of the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts, a member and president of the Pro Arte art and painting society.
He participated in exhibitions of Polish art in 1924 in Moscow, in 1936 at the 20th Venice Biennale, in 1939 in New York.
