In 2009, Krzysztof Żyngiel was recognized as one of the 13 most popular Polish painters of the younger generation. In 2010, the artist was officially recognized as one of the world’s most outstanding painters. Undoubtedly, a major honor in 2017 was his nomination by the Mondial Art Academia to serve as its ambassador in Poland. The selection was made by an international panel of acclaimed and highly renowned artists from around the world. Also in 2017, the Mondial Art Academia published an album of world painting, which included two works by Krzysztof Żyngiel. It also awarded him a silver medal in an international surrealist competition for his painting “Oceanic Gravedigger.” In 2018, the painter joined the Association of Polish Fine Artists (ZPAP) and began using the pseudonym Animus to sign his works. In 2021, the artist won first place in an international competition organized by the American Art Gallery in California. His work titled “The Enchanted Studio”—oil on canvas, 100x130 cm—was honored with the most prestigious award in the surrealist genre. The decision to award the prize was made by 25 of the most prestigious galleries in the U.S.
The artistic movement in which he creates his paintings cannot be fully classified as “magical realism.” The artist’s paintings are a fusion of the real world, fantasy, and visions of omnipresent destruction. Krzysztof Żyngiel refers to this as the “Apocalyptic Art” movement.
