King Stefan Batory, after the end of the war with the rebellious Danzig, began to organize matters related to the issuance of money. In addition to the coins of the last two Jagiellons, there was also a lot of foreign coinage in circulation, usually inferior to domestic coinage. In response, the king opened new mints and introduced a different lease system. In addition, he issued new mint ordinances in 1578 and 1580, specifying the types of new coins to be issued.
