In 1972, the Alfa Romeo Montreal was sold at a price of 5,700,000 lire, with the option to add accessories for increased comfort, such as electric windows (100,000 lire), metallic paint (140,000 lire), and air conditioning (290,000 lire). Available color options ranged from medium blue, green, escoli gray, China red, orange, and black to metallic brown, silver, orange, gold, and green.
The car's exterior featured a slightly higher profile and a larger hood to accommodate the eight-cylinder engine. The engine, derived from the Tipo 33 racing car, was substantially modified to make it more manageable and suitable for road use. The final displacement was 2,593 cc, with a 90-degree crankshaft instead of the typical 180-degree arrangement, redesigned pistons, different camshaft timing, and the addition of SPICA mechanical fuel injection. The engine was paired with a refined 5-speed ZF manual gearbox, which was considered the best available at the time, considering that Alfa Romeo did not have a transmission capable of handling the powerful V8's torque. The differential unit, derived directly from the 2000 GT and Spider models, had an enlarged magnesium housing to increase oil capacity and provide better cooling.
The distinguishing features that enhanced the car's performance were the six-slotted side air vents on the upper pillars.
The presented Montreal is definitely a first series model and includes all the optional features, such as electric windows, heating and cooling systems, and fully preserved leather seats. Lastly, it is powered by the classic 8-cylinder engine from the Alfa Romeo Tipo 33.
Performance figures: 200 horsepower at 6,500 rpm, 24 kgm of torque at 4,750 rpm, top speed of 224 km/h, and 28 seconds to cover a kilometer from a standing start; 0-100 km/h in approximately 7 seconds.
